Tiny Supers - Velocity

Hey folks!

In keeping up with my frantic updating of the gallery to catch up with my recent work, here's another superhero design from the upcoming "Tiny Supers" RPG I've been conceptualising and illustrating.

This time around the subject of this image is codenamed Velocity which, of course, tells you most of what you need to know about the character He's the classic archetype of the speedster which was always one of my favorites from The Flash to Quicksilver and all in-between. Naturally, my passion for these aforementioned classics was, contrary to what one might think, a bit of a challenge to overwrite with my own unique take on the icon of a fast-moving hero. However, thanks to the astute writing of Alan Bahr, the creator of the game, and some thinking on my own about what I believed such a superpowered being would entail, I think we came up with a very cool version of the trope.
In my vision, moving at such near-light speed (or sometimes even surpassing it) would require more protection than spandex, thus making the idea of an armored, contained suit more appropriate. Oxygen at high velocity literally burns your lungs, so the mask would also provide proper respiratory support and maybe even enhance the hero's perception with the aid of a HUD system.
As for the purely aesthetical, I was only given direction as to the colors I was to use; the rest I could pick myself and so I tried to convey what I always imagined I'd do if I had the chance to draw one of the classics speedsters: I turned him into almost an apparition. To suggest extreme motion with my rendering, I have the figure dissolving into pure light, which I think enhances the concept and at the same time makes it (hopefully) a bit more unique.
