Happy Monday, folks!
It's been a busy weekend again and I usually bask in classic films while I work to have some background material to break the monotony or inspire me. Of course, one of the most well played movies I choose time and again is Ridley Scott's masterpiece A L I E N.
There's so much to be learnt from this film, from camera angles, to lighting to how effective it's choosing of lenses was. I always find some new detail I'd missed before or look at a shot from a new perspective I hadn't thought of. Which brings me always to try and pay it due homage with a warm-up or sketch, trying to channel some of its essence through my style.
In this instance, I went for the characters as I usually do, with hints of the background and reliving some of the classic lines of the film. Parker has many of those, especially the ones pertaining bitching about his salary and the fact that he does all the heavy lifting around the ship alongside Brett
Yaphet Kotto gave such an amazing performance that it is hard to capture all of it in one shot, though I've done my best before jumping onto real work.
I also tried to capture the colors used in the film as much as possible because they've become as iconic as everything else in it.
