Into the Wild

Happy Thursday fellow watchers and watcherettes!

I hope you're all having a great week. Mine is busy as usual with finishing up a lot of pages and sequentials and, of course, taking care of some very old, very long overdue commissions.

This illustration belongs to absoloot who, like many others, has shown me the utmost patience and understanding when it comes to his due. This piece has been years in the making and I upgraded the original canvas to a bigger one as a token of my good will and appreciation of his support. I try and do that with all my clients, to make up for their waiting with more art than they originally bargained for.
This fine lady here is Vendra, an original character belonging to the aforementioned absoloot. I had a blast rendering her, because her design was quite intrincate and I wanted to respect that, but add my own twist to it, which I believe I managed. I also wanted her to be very beautiful, but stern looking; her clothing is quite sexy and I admit the pose is too, but it doesn't feel contrived. It actually looks like she's scouting ahead and sorting all sorts of dangers, ready to take them on without a moment's hesitation. 
I tried to keep the colors in tune with her surroundings, because I figured she would use camouflage to avoid being seen. Her skin is something I'm particularly proud of as well as the forest behind her and the carvings on her blade.

So, I hope you enjoy this one and if you're a client of mine still expecting your commission, this is proof that no matter how much time passes, I'll get there and deliver you what I hope is an amazing piece, worth the wait.
