Blood Ties

Happy Tuesday, folks!

The week started out a bit rocky for me, hence why I'm updating the gallery today And as is usual after Sunday evening, a mandatory Game of Thrones warm-up can't be avoided

One of the things I try to do when watching inspiring works of fiction be it on TV, literature, movies, music and so forth, is to put my mind in "illustration mode". That means that while I'm watching, for example, an episode of GoT, I'll be thinking of what scene can best describe a key element of said episode. This excersise helps me make more focused and concise decisions when it comes to my working on an author's novel or where to take the storytelling of a given comic script. It is almost paramount to an illustrator to be able to convey a whole narrative through one image and though it isn't always 100% possible, it's important to come as close as possible.

In this piece, I captured what I felt was the gist of the episode and one of its most resonating moments, deeply tied to the whole mythology created by G.R.R. Martin.
