Happy New Year, folks!    

2018 is upon us at last and I hope you all had a great time celebrating its coming on Sunday evening. I had a quiet time with my family, which is something I always cherish after such a hectic and bleak 2017. Of course, it wasn't so for all, but for me and mine it had it all from family tragedies to financial black holes that we had to sort, and everything in-between. So, I'm glad to see the last year go and receive another one, if only to feel a bit more hopeful about the days to come.

One thing I AM proud of that happened last year was my artwork. For too long I struggled to get to a point in which I could be really satisfied (as much as an artist can be content with their own production that is) with my craft. And that finally happened in 2017 despite all other inconveniences and bumps in the way.
I found out I shouldn't be so afraid to step out of my comfort zones and try out new stuff as well as being confident that I do not always have to put out my absolute best; sometimes the steps are just as important for my growth as they are for you out there watching my evolution with interest. I fully endorsed pen and ink as a strength of mine and took it to a whole new level which in turn enriched my coloring and defined with more clarity the acting of my characters on the page as well as the overall composition of the comics I am honored to be drawing.
This image is, thus, quite openly symbolic and while perhaps not the most original idea I've had, I feel it kicked off the year ahead with particular strength and the hope that we all can be just as sturdy and resilient as that green spout amid the debris.
