Hi there, friends!
Continuing with my posting the progress I'm doing with long (very long
) overdue commissions, here I bring you something that was vrey fun to do.
Originally, the assignment was to bring the classic Thor
, from the comics, to life. However, after seeing ~MahmudAsrar
's awesome depiction of the God of Thunder from some days back, I hastily asked my client if he would like me to tackle the Ultimates version of the character; luckily, the response was affirmative and here we are.
This piece reminded me of how fun it is to draw what you love for a living. Many artists I hear complain that they want to do their own characters and stories and not be tied down to existing IPs, but as a man coming from the independent scene (where I'm able to tackle my own creations daily), I value being able to work on my childhood heroes quite a great deal. The experience of being able to bring to life the Marvel champions I longed one day to draw sillfully has truly no value.
For this illustration, I decided to also go for my forgotten monochrome palette, so distinctive in my early days. Revisiting it doing the webcomic Divinity
has sparked in me the desire to use it further as I think it compliments my style a lot.
So, a very fun, very strong image, which I hope you enjoy as much as I did rendering it!
See you all soon.
