Happy Friday, dear watchers and watcherettes...
Well, keeping t my vow of updating more regularly, I bring you here my latest finished commission; a LONG overdue commission.
The brief for this one was simple: "His name is Azrael Corvus, Captain of the Blood Ravens 3rd Company after the former Captain, Gabriel Angelos, became the new Chapter Master (in the wake of the Dawn of War II: Retribution game). He's more about speed than absolute brute strength, handsome and lean, with short black hair and piercing blue eyes. He favors a power sword and bolt pistol over other weapons.
With this in mind I set out to create this piece, much in the vein of my Primarch busts (as requested too).
I like to think I made a very interesting character out of the brief description and that it is that simplicity that makes this image be a really good one. It's not overly detailed with bling or baroque elements. It cuts to the chase and shows a proud Brother Marine in his Chapter insignia. Straightforward and because of it, more powerful.
Let it be known that, for some reason, I love the Blood ravens' colour scheme, even though I know there's a lot of others like it (the Blood Angels nonwithstanding). It's great to colour it!
