No way back by NicolasRGiacondino No way back by NicolasRGiacondino
Tonight the mood struck me to upload some images that I never put in the Gallery because of my obsession with showing you only my absloute best; or what I deem will have relevance as far as evolution and technique within my style goes.
But, I see how that could be detrimental to your own opinion or what you might deem important.
Thus, instead of keeping things to myself, I'll pour them here and give you the freedom of choice you deserve. I'll try and be less picky, and that will hopefully keep the flow of my Gallery much more dynamic.

I do a lot of Warhammer 40,000 themed artwork. A lot. Bu I don't always show it all, fearing it'll clutter my portfolio. This is one such case.
This portrait was done for my good friend and fellow artist ~igorvet. He commissioned it at a very special time in his life, when he ws at a turning point.
Thus, I used the Tarot card of 'The Fool' to represent his jumping onto a universe of possibilities, without remorse or regret.
His faourite Chapter, as you can see, is the White Scars. I love this Chaper because it gives me the chance to draw some amazingly detailed armour.

Apart from taking him as an inspiration for the Marine's facial features, he asked me to also incude his dear dog; to this day, it is one of the best renditions of an animal I've done.

Enjoy!

Nic.-

Not necessarily. It's been a costume for a while that most chapters are "multicultural" (by that, I refer to include "latin" names besides "caucasian names"). So, chances are that there also are non-asian White Scars. Yet, I think I haven't seen a single black space marine.

Thanks, I've been wondering wether there exist black space marines. Until now I have only seen caucasian, latin, and asian marines. And gingers.

Really great. I love the details on his armor. Quite the serious Space Marine to have so many purity seals!
Very nice work. I love it

excellent work
I think I would've liked it even more if you gave the hair and face more of a nomadic Mongol look

Knowing that you are a 2D artist, you mastered your medium very well giving this piece some sort of 3D effect. I like the colors, the expression of the subject (even the dog) and the details of the armour. Pure eyegasmic I must say.

That's one of my favorite armor design you did. Somehow the details, the pose and the colors match up perfectly for an amazing first look. Gives a very good vibe with the youthful look of the bearer.

And yes, the dog face is gorgeous

spetacular rendering my friend. but bar the color theme, chapter markings and curved knife I'd have put him down as an Ultra marine or Imperial Fist.
He doesn't seem... savage/feral enough to me. but that's just IMO

I really well done piece of artwork!

Though I also love the 'story' behind it. Representing a friend in both the classical tarot and in something he loves (space marine). On its own its a striking image of a young marine and his beast companion but it is also a real manes face and how he is steeping into a new part of his life.

I was about to say I can see resemblance to the tarot card of 'The Fool' until I read the description and chuckled.

He looks incredibly regal yet lovingly melancholic, very pleasing to the eyes Nic. ;3

wow, now that is awesome, loving the detail you put into the armour. Plus i love the fact there is a war-hound running with him, my knowledge is limited on the white scars, and that strikes me as unique to the setting.

This in my opinion is your best drawing in your gallery. But that is also a little bias as I love animals and I also have a german shepard. Great work man. I'm glad you decided to post all of these.

The face and hair are off, but then if its your first time doing White Scars and Jaghatai Khan, then that is understandable.

Wow... you may say this isn't your best, but it's still amazing work! It's a surprisingly poignant piece for a Space Marine subject, and there's something extremely cool about the dog being present as well. I'm familiar with the symbology of the Fool card, but this is still a very cool piece on it's own merits!
