Jump Back!

This illustration is one of those warm-ups that end up being something completely different.

The X-Men have always been amongst my favourite superheros, and sketching last night before committing to pagework, they came up out of nowhere and in their original costumes. I must admit I've been in a bit of a superhero kick lately; but going all the way back to the Golden Age. Sometimes it seems to me that we've become so serious, that is it interesting to revisit what made comics exciting and new back in the day.

What was originally a black and white piece, ended up having some color in the tradition of the era depicted here; with a small PS effect as a bonus to enhance the whole. It was quite difficult to stay within a very simple, almost monochromatic palette, but I think I managed it pretty well!
