Happy Thor's Day, folks!

When we think of Fantasy, we usually imagine some epic fight between light and darkness, or strange creatures in forgotten realms. But Fantasy also deals with things that are nearer to home and much more mundane and, as Tolkien wrote in one of his most famous essays, that makes us look at these things from a wholly new perspective. We understand then that what grounds all of these settings is actually the small things that we take for granted: the Sun, the Moon, a glass of wine or the grass in a valley.

In my line of work, I get my fair share of requests for commissions involving amazing battles and spectacular creatures and whilst I never complain about rendering such majestic scenes, I'm always partial to these quiet moments, showing the life behind the amazing realms. 
These characters are derived from an RPG campaign, of course, and the illustration depicts old man priest Seamus and his tiefling protegé Eaki (whom he saved from quite a cruel destiny). Taking her into his custody, he gave her a home and a life beyond the suffering she'd been through and I wanted to have that homely vibe to this piece; despite the girl's horns and tail, of course
