Gladiator

Well... either I don't upload anything in weeks, or I do it everyday! I hope I'm not bothering your eyes much with my artwork on such a regular basis ...
This image belongs to the same story as my previous 'Implacabilis' ([link]) piece, depicting the heroic Cpt. Cortez of the Crimson Fists chapter of Space Marines, in the ever dark 41st Millenium of the Warhammer 40,000 universe.
This is yet another development illustration before jumping right onto the pages of the comic that will have this character as a protagonist, which will be one of the things to keep me busy the rest of the year assuredly.
There's lots in this image that I'm proud of: -The skin tone and overall muscular anatomy of the Cpt.; it has been a long time since I've drawn proper musculature, so I'm happy that I still remember what it looks like. The skin tone is also a personal pride, as i mentioned, and took me several stages.
-The worm in the background and the slime on his mouth, as well as the overall 'green-ish' alien vibe of the arena are something I'm very pleased with.
-The Kroot mercenary fighting 'alongside' the Cpt. It's my first time drawing this race and though I've made a few changes on it's appearance, I think I've achieved a succesful character too.
-The panelling is also a strong point that brings up the comic subject and approach as well as serving as an insight into some other characters deserving of attention, such as the Dark Eldar Haemunculi commanding his grotesques in battle.

So, overall, I'm very happy and proud of this image, and I hope you will be too! This project's future depends of your liking these images after all!
