Happy Týr's day, fellow watchers and watcherettes!
This week seems to be getting old in my schedule already and since I don't know if I'll have time to upload anything (my scanner has been a bit wonky lately), I thought I'd sift through the vault and offer you some never-before-seen piece.
Such is the case of this rare illustration, done a couple of years back for a fine gentleman who owns a jewelry making business.
I'm a very big fan of J.R.R Tolkien's works (I even gave lectures about them in my youth!) and so is this client, who identifies himself (obviously because of his craft) with Middle-Earth's Dwarves. His wife, who helps him with the business, has chosen a Rohirrim as her tolkiendili avatar; and since they've been married for a long time, their characters are also together in myth.
This image was done as a poster for their stand in a Tolkien event that was held in Buenos Aires, and I combined several elements that I had designed for him, as well as some new ones.
The anvil and clamps icon; the glittering caves of Aglarond as well as the characters' clothes and weaponry are all representative of their spirits as well as how I envision the Professor's imaginarium. I don't illustrate Fantasy often, but Tolkien's Fantasy is certainly the best to tackle if I feel like it!
So, I hope you enjoy this bit of nostalgia and let me know what you think!
