Description
THE NAVIGATOR
Sacrifice — Letting go — Surrendering — Passivity
Suspension — Acceptance — Renunciation — Patience
New point of view — Contemplation — Inner harmony
Conformism — Non-action — Waiting — Giving up
This card symbolises the acceptance or resignation of one's own humanity and self-preservation. The destruction of the self brings life to humanity; on the card, these are symbolized respectively by the Navigator and the ship's chair in which he's bound. He's given up his humanity and turned into something more, and it's his powers that allow mankind to move accross the stars.
I had some debate with this card because I knew I wanted to have The Navigator upside down as is the custom with the Hanged Man in the traditional Tarot. But I was hesitant because I felt some details might get lost in seeing the illustration this way. In the end, I preferred the symbolism and the fact that having the character in such a position helped give the whole image a strong anti-gravity atmosphere.
If you feel so inclined, try and turn this one on its head to view it conventionally
Hope you like this one as well as the others and see you all soon!
