Another image from me!? What a productive week, huh? :D
I'm not usually this active, but it's that time of the month when all of the client's sketches and pencils come to life, so there's a thunderstorm of art here in my Gallery...
However (though somewhat related to a project I'm doing) this illustration came up from the latest jam we had at home with my usual partners in crime :iconiadm:, :iconcontrol01: and :iconphotus:. It's been a long time since I wanted to do a Warhammer 40,000 Inquisitor going "fully-inquisitorial" on some foul heretic, and I got my chance with a character I've also wanted to draw: Inquisitor Impetro Respondi.
Impetro is the incarnation of the Bolter & Chainsword Moderator's ability to close a thread or send a warning when the rules are broken on the boards ( [link] ). There's an image of him they use ( [link] ), but it's always been veiled and so I wondered what he'd look like if we could see a little more. Thus, this image...

There's a lot I'm proud of about this one: for starters, I took a chance on a more dramatic lighting than my usual; and the Emperor knows I have an issue with that! The result gave the piece an overall dark and brooding mood, which makes the character very imposing and powerful. I'm also very, very happy with the face of Impetro; I've been improving on that area as well, and I think it shows.

And, the most important bit: I had a LOT of fun doing this piece. And I do mean a lot. I think that's what counts most...

So, you let me know what you think, as usual and I hope you see what I mean about this piece being powerful.

'til soon!

Nic.-

huh. that's weird. this is the first time in a long while that the little "don't forget to leave a comment!" box hasn't popped up when faved. naturally, i am perversely compelled to leave a comment.

it is refreshing to see a badass inquisitor who doesn't have ridiculously oversized pauldrons. and he is badass. the raven is my favorite part. i've always mentally associated corvids with the inquisition for both their intelligence and their unsavory reputation, but oddly enough few other people seem to see the connection...but you did so...hooray?
