Charming

As I said earlier in my previous post, I always like to honor the Eve of All Hallows with a particularly creepy image, for horror is something I don't usually get to depict and greatly enjoy. Thus, taking a small breather from finishing a 15-page short comic story in just under two weeks, I pencilled and inked this piece last night to honor the holiday.

This is an idea I had for a very long time, but never fully materialised until last night. I always considered rendering it in full color, with lots of details and a lush background. But I found out that over-rendering would've subdued the horrific nature of the theme itself, maybe watering it down a bit. So I decided this was going to be black and white, with pure red as an accent for an even more disturbing effect. Simple and powerful.
Ever since I was a kid, I always found the Sleeping Beauty to be really creepy. I mean, a princess completely devoid of any manner of protection or defense against anyone who'd come knocking? I could see how it could end badly way before the prince charming and his magical kiss.

PS.. Now that I think about it, I might do a follow-up to this one with an actual prince finding the beauty's zombie corpse... that'd be a shocker!
